Nick Pelisek

Nicholas Pelisek is studying civil engineering at the University of Miami in hopes of pursuing a career in the engineering and design of innovative zoo and aquarium environments. His passions and interests in zoos and aquariums were ignited through childhood trips to the Maryland Zoo and National Aquarium when he lived in Baltimore, and later through countless trips to Busch Gardens Tampa and SeaWorld Orlando upon moving to Florida. He finds that the most intriguing aspect of zoo and aquarium design is the development of innovative ways for guests to connect with the animals, such as through training demonstration areas and the integration of rides and animal encounter experiences in the animal habitats. His favorite part of working on the Zoo Nation team is being able to share the exciting zoo and aquarium projects happening all over the country with fans who may not otherwise be able to see that the industry is constantly expanding, improving, and innovating. His favorite animals are elephants, crocodiles, parrots, and killer whales.
