The Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens has been chosen as the recipient of an Edyth Bush Charitable Foundation GoodWorks gift.
In 2015, the Edyth Bush Charitable Foundation received the Award for Outstanding Foundation by the Association of Fundraising Professionals International. In celebration the award, the Foundation launched its GoodWorks initiative, which highlights the work of the Central Florida nonprofit sector. The Foundation will provide grants to further the efforts of nonprofit organizations in 12 months following the award. Organizations will also be featured on social media and the Foundation website and sponsor educational programming for the business and nonprofit communities.
“We are very honored to have been selected to receive a $5,000 GoodWorks contribution from the Edyth Bush Charitable Foundation,” said Philip Flynn III, Ed.D., Zoo President & CEO. “This gift will allow us to continue to create lifelong memories, inspire future scientists or teachers and help connect children of all ages with conservation initiatives around the world.”
Zoos have remained a constant throughout our history and they still stand as pathways to family-oriented education. Through community involvement and immersive programs, zoos bring people closer than ever to amazing creatures from all over the world. Connecting with animals and understanding their plight in the wild instills a responsibility in us as humans to do everything we can to protect them and see them thrive.
