As Monarch butterflies make their yearly migration, the San Antonio Zoo is the perfect stop along the way. The zoo’s horticulturists have been busy planting milkweed plants throughout the zoo’s grounds to aid the millions of migrators passing through the area. Monarch caterpillars and chrysalis have been observed throughout the landscape.
For the first time ever, join the zoo from March 4 – 6 from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for Monarch Fest. During this three-day celebration of the Monarch, receive milkweed seeds, participate in fun games and crafts, and learn how you can help end the extinction of the monarch butterfly. Activities and milkweed seeds are all free with your general admission to the zoo. Have fun while learning about the creature that holds some of the most amazing natural adaptations.
